TINSUKIA: The 48th foundation day of Tinsukia District Journalists' Association (TDJA) was held in Borguri Tinsukia under the aegis of Tinsukia Press Club on Wednesday with a convention of past and present journalists of Tinsukia district who were also felicitated with citations and gamusa. More than 80 journalists from 8 affiliated press clubs of TDJA attended the programme.

The most commendable and remarkable part of the day- the flag hoisting and smriti tarpan programme were held on the plot of land allotted by the Tinsukia district administration for the proposed construction of TDJA building. The meeting was held at the auditorium of Tinsukia Zilla Parishad with Anuj Kalita, president of TDJA, in the chair in the presence of dignitaries. The Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Narsing Pawar in his brief speech as chief guest assured to extend all possible support for the construction of TDJA building while complimenting the journalists.

DIPRO Mamoon Borkakoty, CEO Zilla Parishad Munindra Bordoloi, ZP president Rajendra Koiri, DTO Rajib Pegu also spoke on the occasion as invited guests. Earlier, Rana Jyoti Neog, general secretary of TDJA, in his welcome address spoke about the glorious past of TDJA while informing that the Rajya Sabha MP, Pabitra Margherita had committed to extend financial support from the MP's fund for the building. Few former presidents of the TDJA, including old-timer journalists, shared their experiences. The day-long programme began with hoisting of TDJA flag by Anuj Kalita, president, at the TDJA plot, followed by smriti tarpan by Md Hussain Khan and Dr Rishi Das.
