4th triennial conference of Bodoland People’s Front gets underway

KOKRAJHAR: The 4th triennial conference of Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) got underway from Friday at Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar. The women’s wing, youth wing, Minority Cell of the BPF and Bodoland Students Union (BSU), students’ wing of the party were also held simultaneously.

The Central Working Committee and the delegate meeting were held from 5 pm. More than ten thousand delegates from the districts of BTC and outside were registered till the filing of this report. As part of the programme, the president of the BPF Hagrama Mohilary will hoist the flag of the party in the morning at 8.30 am on Saturday followed by hoisting of flags of women wing, BSU, legal cell, Minority and Youth BPF wing of respective district committees. The Minister of Tourism and WPT&BC Chandan Brahma who is also the vice president of the party will pay homage to Bodoland martyrs.

Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary who is also spokesperson of the party will inaugurate the delegate sitting at 12 noon. Sources said the old body would be dissolved and new executive meeting would be formed on Saturday. The BPF has been in power since the first council election held in 2005. The chief of BTC Hagrama Mohilary has been leading the party since its formation and BPF became a strong regional political party which is part of the coalition government of Assam since the tenure of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
