TINSUKIA: The Samagra Shiksha Tinsukia as envisaged by the state education department, launched a special enrolment drive in government, provincialized and tea garden management lower and upper primary schools for dropout children who left schools due to COVID, flood and other adverse factors. The programme also incorporated the children who were left out from enrolment, besides ensuring age-specific admission.

A broad-based module has been prepared by constituting an enrolment drive group that includes school management committee, organizations, NGOs and individuals from society. The group will undertake enrolment of children based on habitation level survey, counseling for parents, awareness programme etc. for catchment areas, and will arrange similar programmes in tea garden areas in association with the garden management based on child profile register.

As part of this special enrolment drive on Wednesday in Tinsukia, the school management of Bimala Prasad Chaliha LP School identified five children (6 to 8 years) from nearby areas of Pinehood Residential School who were never enrolled before and they were admitted to the school on the same day. They were provided with school uniforms and were allowed to play with other students so that they get attracted towards the school environment.
