5 more die of COVID in Sonitpur district, new cases 228

TEZPUR: Five persons lost their lives due to COVID-19 in Sonitpur district on Monday. They have been identified as Durga Prasad Bhuyan (82), resident of Ghorpara Chuburi Tezpur, Tarun Chandra Baruah (83), resident of Baruachuburi Mahabhairab, Josai Tanti (35), resident of Balipara TE, Ram Chetry (50), resident of Burha gaon chapori, Chariduar and Kunty Pradhan (45), resident of Palashbasti, Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur, who died at TMCH, taking the death toll to 179 in the district during the second wave of the pandemic. Altogether 6,870 tests were done across the district on Monday out of which 6,342 were RAT and rest RT-PCR and among the new 228 positive cases found, 224 cases were from RAT and 4 from RT-PCR.
