BARPETA: Since Wednesday, total five COVID-19 patients have been admitted at Barpeta's Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH).

On Wednesday night, one COVID-19 positive patient of Phalibari village, Chapar in Dhubri district was brought from Kokrajhar quarantine centre. On Thursday, four COVID-19 positive patients were brought to FAAMCH from Kokrajhar quarantine centres.

The four patients are Nazrul Islam (29) from Barpeta, Sahidul Islam (20) from Nalbari, Tilok Lama (20) from Baksa and Saddam Hussain of Dalamir Alga under Gouripur police station in Barpeta district, said Bikash Sarma, DIPRO, Barpeta as per the information from Dr Harishaditya Das, Deputy Superintendent of FAAMCH, Barpeta.

Nazrul had come from Andhra Pradesh and Sahidul had come from Uttar Pradesh. Saddam Hussain had come from Pune.

Nazrul' s house is in Barpeta district. He worked as construction labourer in Godabari district of Andhra Pradesh. He came to Assam on May 17 and was kept in Kokrajhar quarantine centre.

Meanwhile, on Thursday all total 366 returnees reached Barpeta district. Amongst them, 228 came via Srirampur and were kept at JNV, Sarbhog quarantine centre and 50 others were kept at MC College, Barpeta quarantine centre. At Bhawanipur Anchalik College 66 returnees have been kept under quarantine, four at Alakananda Hotel, Pathsala and another eight at Pathsala. Three women along with four children were sent for home quarantine. Since May 15, all total 684 returnees have reached Barpeta district, stated the DIPRO, Barpeta.
