573rd birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev celebrated in Jorhat district

JORHAT: The 573 birth anniversary of great Vaisnaviate saint Srimanta Sankardev was celebrated at Kahargaon Namghar, Teok in Jorhat district on Thursday with day-long programme. Senior citizen Budhin Bordoloi hoisted the flag and spoke about Srimanta Sankardev. A colourful traditional procession was taken out maintaining COVID protocol. Various students performed Borgeet, Krishna nritya (dance) on the occasion. The bhaona Bipra Damudar was staged in the namghar premises.

JAMUGURIHAT: The 573rd birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev was celebrated at Jamugurihat like in other parts of the State. The Barechahar Raij Sabha, Jamugurihat celebrated the 573rd birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev on Friday following COVID protocol.

The birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev is celebrated every year by the Raij Sobha with pomp and gaiety along with a two-three day agenda. But due to the pandemic, the celebration was curtailed to limited rituals only. This time, the birthday of Srimanta Sankardev was celebrated at the namghar of Samdhara, north Jamuguri with a day-long programme following COVID protocol.
