57th ABSU conference to focus on knowledge gainful programmes

KOKRAJHAR: The 57th historic conference of the All-Bodo Students Union (ABSU), to be held from March 13 to 16 at Bodofa Fwthar, Dotma in Kokrajhar district, is set to focus on various knowledge gainful programmes, especially for the students. Massive preparations are going on in full swing on a war footing.

The ABSU leaders, led by President Dipen Boro and accompanied by MLA and President of the Reception Committee Lawrence Islary, on Wednesday visited the venue to oversee the progress of work.

President of ABSU Dipen Boro said that the preparation for the 57th annual conference of the ABSU was going on in a speedy manner where many invited special guests from the state and the national level will address the sessions. He said that over one lakh people were expected to gather during this four-day historic programme and that they are receiving full support from the well-wishers and common people.

Boro said that this time, a new initiative showcasing Bodoland space and science exhibition was ready besides participation from the ISRO team, Bengaluru, Space on Wheels, Shillong, demonstration of science models from various colleges, universities, and schools etc., along with horticulture flower competition, which would be an iconic display.

Meanwhile, President of the Reception Committee and MLA Lawrence Islary said that over 70 percent of the preparations were complete while the flag hoisting arena, exhibition stalls, main pandal, and seminar halls are in the final stages. Repairing of roads leading to Bodofa Fwthar has also been done. He said that by March 11, all the remaining works would be completed for smooth holding of the conference. He also said that the in-charges of all the sub-committees have been working dedicatedly.

Islary said that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will address the student’s conclave while Union Home Minister Amit Shah will grace the open session as the chief guest on March 16. He also said that over two lakh people are expected to turn up at the historic conference of the ABSU.
