TAMULPUR: An executive meeting of Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) was held at Tamulpur on Sunday to discuss about the 61st conference of Bodo Sahitya Sabha to be held at Tamulpur in the second week of April 2022.

The meeting was presided over by Toren Boro, president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha. The 61st conference was scheduled to be held on February, 2022 but it was postponed due to the COVID crisis. After discussion, the 61st conference of BSS will now be held in the second week of April.

Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Pramod Boro also participated in the meeting. At the end of the meeting, Pramod Boro said that the 61st conference of Bodo Sahitya Sabha would be held on April 2022 with a colourful programme. He said that Bodo Sahitya Sabha was like a guardian of the Bodo community. It is the oldest organization of the community. Bodo Sahitya Sabha is not only working in literary and cultural fields but also standing with the community in various burning problems of the community and leading from the first line. He appealed to people, irrespective of caste, to cooperate to make the conference a success. Replying to a question of media persons, Pramod Boro said that they had already invited the President of India to the conference and he might attend the meeting. "We are optimistic that the President of India will grace the open session as a chief guest," Boro again said. Later talking to media persons, president of Boro Sahitya Sabha, Toren Boro said that in the 61st conference of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, the National Education Policy, problems of Bodo medium students and schools-colleges along with many problems of the community would be discussed thoroughly.

Secretary of the reception committee, Ratneswar Boro said that a budget of Rs 2 crore has been sanctioned for the success of the conference and 21 sub-committees have already been formed.
