TAMULPUR: The 64th Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), organised a Civic Action Programme (CAP) at remote village in Patkijuli, Tamulpur subdivision, Assam to distribute sports items and medicines through medical & veterinary programme. Inspector General, Sanjeev Sharma , Guwahati Frontier SSB distributed the sports kits to 6 local football clubs and termed the initiative as a social responsibility and small effort towards motivating the budding players. He also emphasized that SSB mandate is to guard border and create harmony & brotherhood among people and support to the needy through extended medical help as a service. SDO Tamulpur, Army officials of 14th BR , 61st Field regiment and others enhanced the programme by their sheer presence and combinedly distributed items such as jersey, shin guard, balls, socks, goalkeeper gloves, goal post nets etc. along with medicines to local people and their livestock benefitting 20 villages.

The CAP is routinely event conducted by SSB, Ministry of Home Affairs at border areas. The Force guards the 699 kms boundary with Bhutan. Commandant Nand Kishore Tamta, mentioned that the unit is endeavoring continuously in augmenting the development prospect of village people through various civic programme. He also asked people to share issues and problems without hesitation and assured to put every effort to look upon it.
