KOKRAJHAR: As many as 68 strong supporters of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF), Aflagaon Primary Committee joined the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) led by Pramod Boro on Thursday.

Sources from UPPL said that all 68 members of BPF were from the Aflagaon primary committee and were active supporters. One of the secretaries of UPPL and former ABSU general secretary, Lawrence Islary welcomed them and felicitated with traditional Aronai in presence of the president of Kokrajhar district committee of UPPL, Rabiram Uzir.

Islary said that the UPPL led by Pramod Boro would grab all 12 seats in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) as people of the region had lost faith in the BPF for its corruption and misrule. He said that more and more BPF supporters had come and joined the UPPL desiring a change and many more would come forward. He called upon all to vote for change and to establish good governance.

Meanwhile, sources said that more and more BPF supporters from Aflagaon Village Council Development Committee (VCDC) would join the UPPL in the coming days. Sources also said that as many as seven families of BPF camp under the same primary committee had already joined the UPPL on Wednesday in presence of Lawrence Islary.

Islary, former ABSU general secretary, will be the candidate for 30 Kokrajhar East from UPPL and will fight against BPF's senior leader and minister Pramila Rani Brahma.
