69th Silpi Divas observed by Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha

DOOMDOOMA: The 69th Silpi Divas was observed at Doomdooma by Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha in association with Doomdooma Marwari Yuba Mancha and Maharaja Agrasen Samaj. The programme began with a lecture at Lotus Academy and lighting of a ceremonial lamp before the portrait of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala.

Journalist Dhiren Deka delivered a speech and highlighted the various achievements of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala for the uplift of the society both culturally and literally. It was followed by a tribute paying function before the statute of Rupkonwar near the Railway gate.

President of Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha Bimala Baruah lit the lamp before Rupkonwar’s statue and offered floral tributes to him. A procession was taken out and the members of ‘Xur- Bahini’ presented a number of Jyoti Sangeets on various spots.

Meanwhile, Doomdooma Sakha Lekhika Samaroh Samity also observed Silpi Divas at its permanent venue at Rupaisiding with a day-long programme. President Dr Mina Devi Baruah lit the ceremonial lamp before the portrait of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala while President Bina Deka garlanded his portrait. Dr Aruna Gogoi Baruah, Runu Dutta Bhuyan spoke on Jyoti Prasad Agarwala’s contributions towards Assamese literature. Another important feature of the day’s programme was the felicitation of newly elected President of Tinsukia Zila Xahitya Xabha Arjun Baruah and Madhabilata award-winning poet Sarifa Khatun Chaudhury (in Absentia).

TINSUKIA: ‘Silpi Divas’, the death anniversary of Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala was observed in Tinsukia with a day-long programme organized jointly by Tinsukia Silpi Samaj and Joint Forum against CAA.

The programme began with the hoisting of Bishnu-Jyoti Sanskritik Samaj flag by Dr Jyoti Prasad Chaliha followed by floral tributes at the statue of Rupkonwar at Bordoloinagar’s Jyoti Uddyan and District Library premises.

Meanwhile, commemorative lectures were delivered by Dr Madan Sarma and Dr Jyoti Prasad Chaliha and a cultural programme were held in the afternoon in Thana Chariali. Various upcoming artistes of Tinsukia performed in the programme under the supervision of Shyam Sundar Khound and Diamond Patowari.
