73rd Republic Day: 144 CrPC promulgated across Lakhimpur

By issuing an order vide No. LMG. 3/2019/108 dated January 21, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate of Lakhimpur, Sumit Sattawan has promulgated 144 CrPC across the district in view of celebrating the upcoming 73rd Republic Day in a peaceful and harmonious environment.

LAKHIMPUR: By issuing an order vide No. LMG. 3/2019/108 dated January 21, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate of Lakhimpur, Sumit Sattawan has promulgated 144 CrPC across the district in view of celebrating the upcoming 73rd Republic Day in a peaceful and harmonious environment. This measure has been initiated in order to check the apprehension, the likelihood of disturbances, extremist activities causing threat to the public peace and harmony in different parts of the district on the eve or during the celebration of the national festival.

The order has prohibited the assembly of 5 or more persons in public places except for markets, religious places and in those places where the ceremonial celebration of Republic Day will be held. Carrying of firearms, lethal weapons by any individual or organization without prior permission from the District Magistrate is also prohibited. The order has further prohibited plying of all kinds of two-wheelers with pillion riders. This order will not be applicable for lady pillion riders with child in lap, school-going children, magistrates on duty and police personnel in uniform. Prohibition is also made regarding keeping of any articles, bags etc. abandoned in the markets and public places.
