The historic Palasbari Raax Mahotsav began its 76th anniversary celebration from Tuesday.
PALASBARI: The historic Palasbari Raax Mahotsav began its 76th anniversary celebration from Tuesday. After celebrating Raax festival in a low-key manner in the past two years under Covid restrictions, this time the 11-day Palasbari Raax festival was formally inaugurated in the presence of thousands of people by Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the Raax festival, minister Neog said that the Raax festival has always played an important role in building brotherhood and harmony among the people.
The inaugural meeting was chaired by the president of the Raax Mahotsav Committee, Monimoy Kar. A book was inaugurated by Mrinalini Devi, vice-president of Axam Xahitya Xabha.
Earlier, the celebration committee conducted a huge procession from Satopara Sri Sri Basanti Devi Temple to the venue of the Raax festival. Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, MP Queen Oja, Palasbari MLA Hemanga Thakuria and others were present in the programme.
This time, Palasbari Raax Mahotsav is also celebrating its Maharajat Jayanti. Palasbari Raax Mahotsav publicity committee president Anil Kalita said that the Maharajat Jayanti would conclude on November 18 with a budget of Rs 50 lakh.
