86th anniversary of Poet Haribhakta Katowal remembered in Biswanath Chariali

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The 86th anniversary of Haribhakta Katowal, better known as 'Poet of Integration', was observed recently at Dakshin Nagsanker High School under the aegis of Udayan Kala Parishad, a socio-literary-educational organization of Samardoloni, Jamugurihat following COVID-19 protocol.

The programme commenced with paying of floral tributes by retired teacher Bhavani Sharma and lighting of earthen lamp by Parvati Sharma, chairperson of Dakshin Nagsanker Gaon Panchayat. The open session was presided over by Ganga Dhakal, president of Udayan Kala Parishad, while the objectives were explained by chief secretary Anjan Baskota.

Taking part in the meeting as the distinguished speaker, local teacher Tek Bahadur Katowal dwelt at length on the literary contributions and the ideals of Haribhakta Katowal. The meritorious students of the greater Samardoloni area who had excelled in the recent HSLC and HS examinations, were felicitated in the programme with felicitation letters, gamosas and set of books. Ananta Gautam, Vice-Principal of Chaiduar College, Gohpur delivered an informative lecture for the students on how to design their future life and also how to prepare to achieve their goals.
