Office of reception committee inaugurated

LAKHIMPUR: The 8th annual session of the United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) will be held on February 26, February 27 and February 28 in 2022 at Langhin of Karbi Anglong district with a three-day long colouful agenda. As a part of the due preparation to hold the event with success, the office of the reception committee was inaugurated on Wednesday.

This was informed by UBPO president Manoranjan Basumatari and general secretary Pitambar Brahma through a statement sent to media. The office was inaugurated by Mihiniswar Basumatari, the founder president of the UBPO, who is also the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Bodo Kachahari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC).

The inauguration of the office was followed by a public meeting under the management of Karbi Anglong district unit UBPO president Badal Maussahari. The meeting commenced with Manoranjan Basumatari in the chair, wherein Pitambar Brahma explained the objective of the programme. Speaking on the occasion, CEM of BKWAC, Mihiniswar Basumatari said that the decision to hold the 8th annual session of the UBPO in Karbi Anglong district was taken in the delegate meeting of the 7th annual session of the organization which was held in Golaghat. He called upon the reception committee members and UBPO activists to work hard to conduct the event smoothly and successfully. He opined that all round development of a community could not be ensured without the unity and integration among the people.

"UBPO must work relentlessly to establish it as the strong and dynamic organization for the development of the Bodo community people," Mihiniswar Basumatari said. He also laid emphasis on publishing the souvenir of the event as masterpiece one.

In the meeting, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council executive member-cum- reception committee president Tarendra Brahma, working president Santanu Basumatari, Karbi Anglong Zila Kachari Samaj leader Dalsing Basumatari, UBPO former secretary-cum- BKWAC executive member Anil Basumatari also delivered lecture by chalking out due plans to make the event successful. In the same programme, UBPO central committee handed over the charge to the reception committee to organize the event on the designated days.
