9-Year Old Raped in Tamulpur in Assam, Accused Arrested

GUWAHATI: At a time, when sexual abuse by known persons in some incidents has become a topic for discussion in some circles, such a shocking crime has reportedly occurred recently in Tamulpur, Baxa.

The Police arrested the accused after his despicable deed had come to light on Sunday.

As per reports, Brajen Kalita of the village Jhargaon, Tamulpur, had allegedly raped a 9-year girl in his neighborhood on June 25.

The accused enticed the minor child to go with him fishing in a nearby pond. On the bank of the pond he allegedly, sexually abused the child.

The accused and victim know each other. Meanwhile, the victim's family filed a complaint against the accused in the Tampulpur Police Station after the child had told his parents about the incident.

Based on the complaint the police registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested the accused on Sunday night. Meanwhile, the police produced the accused in the court which sent him to judicial custody.

A few days similar despicable crime had occurred in Morigaon in which a minor girl was raped by an aged person.

The Bhuragaon Police has arrested a 65-year-old person for the rape and murder of a 9-year-old minor girl.

The accused has been identified as Sayed Ali. According to police, Ali had raped the 9-year-old after killing her at a jute field in Balidunga under Bhuragaon PS on June 20.

The accused was working in a Madrassa. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Bhuragaon in Morigaon on June 25 and assured the victim's parents that the culprits would not be spared.
