92 retired teachers felicitated on Teachers' Day in Chirang district

KOKRAJHAR: Along with other parts of the country, the District Level Celebration Committee for Teachers' Day, Chirang, in collaboration with the District Academic Council and the All Teachers' Association organised the 60th Teachers' Day at Dhaligaon High School in Chirang district on Sunday.

As the distinguished guest, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chirang district, Khanindra Das lit the lamp and laid a wreath at the portrait of former President of India, Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. In his short speech, he highlighted the significance of the day and greeted all the teachers.

Terming Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India as a great philosopher and politician, he recalled some of his remarkable contributions given to the country, especially in the Education sector.

Addressing the gathering as the guest of honour, Associate Professor of Bodoland University, Dipamani Baishya dwelt on NEP (New Education Policy). He asked the teachers and officials involved in Education sector to work together. Baishya also said that in order to improve the mental condition of the girl child, the standard of our education policy should be dovetailed with to address their issues. She also underlined the need to instill discipline among the students.

On teacher-student bondage, Principal of Bijni College Birhas Giri Basumtary said, "Teachers are the main source of all kinds of development. They play a pivotal role in shaping up the future of children and the entire society by guiding the students in the right direction.".

In connection with the 'Teachers Day' celebration, a total of 92 retired teachers from primary, upper primary, and higher secondary schools of Chirang district were felicitated with Aronai and citation.

The purpose of the meeting was explained by Bijay Baishnab — Inspector of Schools, Chirang. Among the dignitaries who attended the meeting were DIPRO (District Information & Public Relations Officer) Gagan Narzary; Principal of Basugaon College Dr Ranen Chandra Mushahary, officials of the Education department, heads of institutions, and a large number of teachers.
