KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland Indigenous Games Association (BIGA), a recognized traditional sports association of Sports and Youth Welfare department of BTC is all set to observe the 9th death anniversary of its founder Chanakya Brahma at Longa Irrigation, Ramfalbil on October 31. The general secretary of BIGA Guno Sangkar Wary said the BIGA in association with Swinari Longa Park Society will organise Chanakya Brahma Memorial Amwl Dimwl (Traditional water game) Open Prize Money Competition in connection with the observation of the death anniversary of BIGA founder on that day. He said over 20 teams have already enrolled for the competition.

Wary said BIGA was formed way back in 2007 with an aim to revive and preserve all traditional sports of the Bodos and promote feasible indigenous games. He also said the BIGA had identified over 55 traditional sports in BTC region itself and they have been working for preservation, promotion and revitalization of old games.

Sources said the BTC EM of Sports and Youth Welfare Daobaisa Boro will inaugurate the competition of traditional water game-Amwl Dimwl.
