SILCHAR: COVID-19 pandemic assuming serious dimension has brought into focus the worst and the best sides of humanity. The worst, millions of people across the world have died. The best, persons of altruistic nature have stood by helpless and poor people of society. Karimganj the border town of Barak Valley has the distinction to see Sudip Das, journalist, attached with a well read and well circulated daily published from Silchar being honoured by Vivekananda Kanya Kumari Kendra, Karimganj, on Saturday. During the pandemic he took time off his busy routine to extend all possible help to the affected families and their members of Latu village, 20 km from the border town with the active support of business and political organizations.

Such movement to help corona victims exposed him to the virus and had to be admitted in Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment. He not only recovered well but also donated his plasma to the SMCH. Sudip Das is the only journalist from Karimganj who did the best human work and in recognition of it, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari honoured him at a simple function on Saturday with citation, gifts and as "Friends of COVID-19" decoration which were presented to him by RSS functionary Manoranjan Pradhan, Alak Paul, Prof Mrinal Kanti Dutta, coordinator, Arup Roy, joint coordinator, Gautom Deb among others. Karimganj Press Club greeted Sudip Das for his commendable contributions to social cause.
