A tribute to Biresh Chandra Dutta

Biresh Chandra Dutta, our Bhindeu, left for heavenly abode on August 22 at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital, after a brief illness, leaving his family members, relatives and a host of admirers shell shocked. Born to late Biraja Dutta and late Brigu Pati Dutta, at Panbazaar, Guwahati, in 1940, he was the fourth of the five brothers and a sister.

He did his schooling from Bajali High School where his father was the headmaster. Then he completed ISc and BSc from Cotton College. His brilliant academic career ended with the graduation in Electrical Engineering from BIT, Ranchi. He then joined ASEB and after serving in various capacities retired as Addl Chief Engineer in 2001.

His positive attitude, endearing nature and calmness in any situation could earn him love and respect from everyone. We always cherished his warmth and radiant smile whenever we got opportunity to meet him. He was a man with a big heart and lived his life in his terms.

Very popular among his friends and family members he maintained a very disciplined life style and was always fit, active and energetic. A man of amiable disposition and soft spoken by nature, he helped us whenever we are in confusion regarding any matter within minutes with the ability to have accurate and detailed recall. That was his special quality.

Bhindeu was closely associated with various socio-cultural organizations including Lions Club, Pensioners Association, Convergence 57 and many more. He left behind his wife Anu baidew, daughters, son and a host of grand children and well-wishers. His untimely death was widely mourned not only in and around Narikalbari, the place where he lived, but from other places as well. All the admirers will surely miss a noble and kind hearted soul. Yes, gone from our sight but never from our heart.

Today on his adya shraddha, we on behalf of the family members pray to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to his departed soul. Grief can be so hard but our memories help us cope. Om Shanti!
