A tribute to Nalini Ranjan Sarma

Nalini Ranjan Sarma, a retired Headmaster of Bamundi High School passed away at his own residence in village Barsar, Nalbari on November 4 at the age of 81.

He was born to Late Gunakanta Sarma and Parbati Devi at Batsar village in the Nalbari district on 1st April, 1941. He was the 4th among 5 brothers and sister of his parents. N. Sarma did his primary education in his native village and completed Matriculation from Bangaon H.S. in 1957. Later he moved to Nalbari College and passed I.A and B.A. in 1959 and 1962 respectively.

After completing B.A. examination, he made a customary visit to village Bamundi with two of his well-wishers of the same village. During his visit he came across with AdyanathChakraborty, the then Headmaster of Bamundi High School. Chakraborty Sir gave him an opportunity whether he desires to serve at Bamundi H.S. He agreed to the proposal and joined on 1st September in 1961 as Assistant Teacher.

Sarma Sir obtained B.T. on deputation from Kokrajar B.T. College and he earned a good reputation during his tenure at Bamundi High School for over 37 years. He retired on 30th April in 1999 as head master.

N. R Sarma was a popular teacher among the students specially in teaching English and Sanskrit. His style of teaching English was very much impressive. The hand writing of Sarma Sir was another outstanding quality in the field teaching process. After retirement he backed to his village and engaged himself with socio-cultural activities including in the famous Kalipuja of Batsar.

He is survived by four daughters, sons in law and a host of relatives. Today, on this day of adyasardha I pay my profound respect to Sarma Sir and pray to god for granting eternal peace to the departed soul.
