AAKJSU demanded Development council in the name of Pragjyotishpur

PATHSALA: The All Assam Kalita Janagosthi Students’ Union (AAKJSU) has demanded a development council in the name of old Guwahati (Pragjyatishpur), which was the kingdom of the Kalita king in ancient times.

The president of AAKJSU, Anupal Dutta Pathak said that since 1988, the Kalita Janagosthi community had been demanded ST status but the government had not responded to this demand. He said that if this demand was not met, 70 lakh Kalita Janagosthi people would take up democratic agitation against the government.

The AAKJSU has also demanded 50 percent reservation for the community in all government jobs for the next 5 years, reservation in UPSC and APSC jobs and 40 percent reservation in medical and engineering colleges in Assam.
