AAMYA Organises Rally in Silchar for Peace in Manipur

SILCHAR: Following the unrest in the state of Manipur and the continued incidents of violence in the state, the All Assam Manipuri Youth Association (AAMYA) took out a peaceful rally in the Silchar city of the state of Assam. It is important to note that a large number of the people have fled Manipur in recent times and taken shelter in Assam because of the ongoing violence.

The members of the All Assam Manipuri Youth Association mentioned that the ongoing violence has affected everyone in the state. While many have perished in the violence, many more have been forced to leave their homes and some even their state out of fear for their lives.

Nearly 5000 people took part in this rally comprising of people from the Meitei and the Bishnupriya community of the state. The people demand an immediate restoration of peace in the state and ensure that the conditions return to normalcy in the state so that the displaced citizens can return home.

The rally started from Bir Tikendrajit Primary School in Itkhola of Silchar and passed through the major streets of the city to reach the DC office of Cachar. The protesters submitted a memorandum to the DC in this regard.

Speaking to media, Khetriya Kundal Singh, chief advisor of AAMYA stated that this rally was organised to urge the Central Government to intervene in the situation to ensure that peace returns to the state. He also stated that the organisation does not want to blame any particular community for the ongoing violence and stated the actions of the chief minister against the narcotics cartel as the cause of the violence.

He also said that the ongoing situation is nothing but narco-terrorism as N Biren Singh has taken strict action against several illegal activities including the supply of narcotics and the cultivation of poppy. And that the perpetrators are behind the violence in the state.
