Aaranyak gifts two vehicles to Golaghat and Nagaon police

NUMALIGARH: Biodiversity conservation organization, Aaranyak, with support from International Rhino Foundation, has gifted one 4WD vehicle each to Golaghat District Police and Nagaon District Police to strengthen vigil in Kaziranga.

The two 4WD Mahindra Bolero Camper vehicles were handed over to the heads of the district police of Golaghat and Kaziranga at a function held at Kohora Police Guest House on Saturday, to further strengthen the measures to check wildlife crimes in and around Kaziranga National Park-cum-Tiger Reserve. About 75-80 per cent area of the sprawling KNP is spread over Golaghat and Nagaon districts of Assam and police forces in both the district have been playing a proactive role in checking rhino poaching in and around the national park.

Aaranyak had earlier provided six motorbikes to Golaghat District Police to complement their efforts to check wildlife crime in the district. Aaranyak, in association with International Rhino Foundation, earlier provided four 4WD vehicles to Kaziranga National Park during 2019-2020 to enhance conservation and monitoring of rhino and other wild animals by Kaziranga National Park authorities in and around Kaziranga National Park. In August 2020, Aaranyak, in association with the International Rhino Foundation, gifted one 4WD Mahindra Bolero Camper to KarbiAnglong District Police to speed up their efforts to check activities of wildlife criminals in the hill district.

In this event, Superintendent of Police of Golaghat, Pushpraj Singh, Superintendent of Police of Nagaon, GauravAbhijitDilip, Director of Kaziranga National Park, P. Shivakumar, Subdivisional police officers of Bokakhat and Kaliabor were present. From Aaranyak, Dr. BibhabTalukdar, Head of Tiger Research and Conservation Division- Firoz Ahmed, Manager of Rhino Research and Conservation Division- Md. ArifHussain and Manager of Legal and Advocacy Division Manas Bhattacharya were also present.
