DIBRUGARH: The All Adivasi Students' Association of Assam (AASAA) on Tuesday staged a protest at the Deputy Commissioner's office seeking various demands. "We demand to provide OBC certificates to our people through Adivasi Jatiya Manch. We want that our TGL (Tea Garden Labour) certificate should be dissolved with immediate effect. The TGL tag has deprived our community," said Gautam Sangha, secretary of AASAA. He said, "The minimum wages of the tea workers should be hike up to Rs 551. The wages of tea garden workers are very low, therefore we demand proper wages for the workers." "We demand CBI probe into the accident of Maina Nayak. Nayak's accident happened due to the gross negligence of the Lepetekatta tea management," Sangha said. Meanwhile, the students' body submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through Dibrugarh Deputy Comissioner Biswajit Pegu.
