AASAA states protest in Khongia Tea Estate near Demow

DEMOW: Under the patronage of All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA) Kharahat Primary Committee, a two-hour demonstration was staged in Khongia Tea Estate near Demow on Wednesday. Later, the activists of AASAA Kharahat Primary Committee submitted a memorandum to the manager of Khongia Tea Estate on Wednesday.

In the memorandum, AASAA, Kharahat Primary Committee demanded that the daily wage of tea labourers should be increased to Rs.351, 20 per cent bonus should be provided to tea labourers, the money of the PF gratuity should be given, unemployment youths should be given work according to their educational qualification, a Social Welfare Officer should be appointed, the houses of the labourers in the tea estate should be repaired, an ambulance should be provided and a driver should be appointed, and a good hospital should be set up in Khongia and Laojan branch of the tea estate. AASAA Kharahat Primary Committee demanded the authorities of the tea estate to solve the problems at the earliest.
