AASCSU, Golaghat Demands Solution to Various Problems

GOLAGHAT: The All Assam Scheduled Caste Students’ Union (AASCSU) Golaghat district committee staged a two-hour sit-in near the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday demanding solution to various issues. The activists of the organization raised various slogans against the State Government.

The president and secretary of AASCSU, Madhurjya Das and Pranab Pratim Das said that the AASCSU had put forward a 10-point charter of demands. In this regard, the Government of Assam fulfilled one but remaining nine demands had not been fulfilled. The Golaghat district committee of AASCSU demanded that the problems of the Scheduled Caste people should be solved soon.

They demanded immediately formation of the Scheduled Caste State Commission. Further, they demanded that the SC caste certificate should be renewed and caste certificate should be distributed in a transparent manner by forming an empowered committee. They also demanded that scholarship to SC students should be regularized, land pattas should be given to SC people, land should be given to flood-affected landless people and welfare schemes should be implemented properly.

Later, they submitted a memorandum through the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat to the Chief Minister demanding fulfilment of their demands.
