LAKHIMPUR: The activists of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) flayed State Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury alleging his comprehensive failure with regard to controlling the sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities in the State which had severely affected the common and low-income people.

In this connection, the activists of the North Lakhimpur regional unit of AASU burnt the effigy of Phani Bhusan Choudhury in North Lakhimpur town in front of PNGB High School on Tuesday evening. Leading the protest programme, president Pranjit Gogoi and general secretary Punamjyoti Burhagohain criticized the minister for his alleged lackadaisical and unmoved attitude towards taking any step to control the day-by-day growing prices of essential commodities in the State. In this regard, the North Lakhimpur AASU termed the minister as 'incompetent' and 'inefficient'.

While staging the protest, the AASU activists slammed him by shouting various slogans demanding him to take steps to control price hike or to step down.
