LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district body of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) demanded the State Government to facilitate option for non-registered unemployed youths of the district to apply for posts in Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH).

Notably, the fresh unemployed youths of the district were seen thronging the District Employment Exchange Office in order to get their names registered these past days after the advertisement concerned was published. The advertisement mentioned the employment exchange registration number of the applicant as one of the criteria for applying to these posts. But the district administration stopped the name registration process in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation as a result of which a large number of non-registered unemployed youths are on the verge of missing the chance of applying for the posts.

The organization demanded the district administration to take necessary step so that all the intending candidates are not deprived of submitting their applications. On the other hand, the central committee of All Assam Unemployed Association also raised the same demand. The AAUA demanded the State Government to re-publish the advertisement fixing the maximum age limit up to 42 years and to allow the non-registered unemployed youths to apply for the posts.
