AASU, Doomdooma Regional Committee Protest against Citizenship Bill

DOOMDOOMA: In protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, vehement protest was launched by All Assam Students Union (AASU), Doomdooma Regional Committee and 30 others ethnic organizations in the form of a torchlight procession brought out in the evening on Friday along the main thoroughfares of the town.

The significant aspect of it was that along with the rest of the people, the businessmen of the town also downed their shutters to join the procession where slogans like ‘We won’t obey CAB’, ‘Down with BJP Government’, ‘Bangladeshi go back’ were shouted.

Later in a street corner meeting held at Gandhi Chowk at the heart of the town several speakers including AASU’s Tinsukia District Committee President Binod Dubey, Doomdooma Press Club President Arjun Baruah, ATTSA President Suresh Bhumij, ATASU President Abhijit Phukan, All Moran Students Union President Jaykanta Moran, Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha Secretary Deben Deka addressed the gathering and exhorted the people to become prepared for a long drawn agitation in the near future.
