LAKHIMPUR: The Dhakuakhana regional unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) on Tuesday staged stir demanding the scrapping of the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2020 and Environmental Impact Assessment-2020 Draft.
In support of the demands, the activists of the organization, led by Dhakuakhana regional unit AASU president Mriganka Dutta and general secretary Bedanta Hundiqu, formed human chain at Dhakuakhana town as per instruction of the Dhakuakhana subdivisional unit of AASU.
The protesters rocked the environment by shouting various slogans in support of the demands and flayed the BJP-led Union and State governments along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for supporting the controversial Act and the draft. Dhakuakhana subdivisional unit AASU general secretary Swaraj Sankar Gogoi took part in the stir along with other dignitaries.
