LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur AASU has expressed strong reaction over massive corruption allegedly in the implementation of the PM-KISAN while releasing the relief amount to the farmers of the district during the ongoing lockdown. The North Lakhimpur regional unit of the organization on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the DC, Dr. Jeevan B demanding him for ordering enquiry into the alleged misappropriation of fund meant for the scheme.

In the memorandum, North Lakhimpur regional AASU president Pranjit Gogoi and general secretary Punamjyoti Burhagohain alleged that the name of expired persons, Panchayati Raj Institutions members and their close relatives, established businessmen and other doubtful people had been included in the beneficiary lists of the scheme while the genuine farmers were deprived of the due benefits.

A delegation of Telahi-Kamalaboriya regional AASU unit was allegedly misbehaved with by the BDO of the Telahi Development Block on Wednesday while the delegation went to the office concerned in order to submit a memorandum to the DC through him on the same issue. As per a written complaint forwarded to the media by Telahi-Kamalaboriya regional unit AASU president Kula Prasad Gogoi and general secretary Dipu Das, the BDO or any other authorized officer were not available to receive the memorandum when the delegation arrived at the office. Under such circumstances, the AASU activists contacted the BDO over phone and then the BDO allegedly misbehaved. The organization alleged that the BDO was also involved in corruption.
