Biswanath Chariali: An incident has drawn mixed reactions in Biswanath Chariali town.

An AASU leader was relieved of his post after his photograph taken with Biswanath BJP MLA Pramod Borthakur went viral on social media. According to information, the president of Biswanath Chariali Anchalik Chatra Santha (AASU), Prabin Matak had attended a meeting in his village, i.e. Biswanathghat Matak Gaon a few days back in which the MLA was also present. The MLA visited the village to inaugurate the renovation work of the village naamghar to be carried out with the financial assistance from the 14th Finance Commission.

Incidentally, someone took a photograph of the meeting and made it viral on social media platforms. As the news reached the ears of the central leaders of the student body, an urgent meeting was called and the executive body meeting unanimously passed a resolution to relieve the president of his post in the greater interest of the apolitical student body as it has always maintained a distance from the political parties.

On the other hand, Prabin Matak alleged that he was not given a chance to give any explanation and was informed of the decision only through a letter. He also claimed that he had been associated with AASU for the last 18 years and took an active part in the agitation against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act with his villagers.
