AASU rallies against Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB)

GOLAGHAT: The activists of Golaghat Regional Students’ Union took out a bicycle rally through Golaghat town on Friday protesting against Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).

Around three hundred students took part in the programme and creating awareness on the “ill-effects” of CAB by cycling through Santipur, Arengapara, Noragaon, Bengenakhowa area of Golaghat town.

President and secretary of Golaghat Regional Students’ Union Anshuman Baruah and Biswajit Gogoi said that the decision taken by the Narendra Modi led-BJP government to settle illegal migrants in Assam through the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, will never be acceptable. The organization strongly opposed the Central government’s move to bring CAB to Assam and demanded that the government withdraw the decision immediately. They further warned the BJP government that if the government did not withdraw the decision, the Golaghat AASU unit will carry out massive protests. In the programme, chief organizing secretary of AASU central committee Raju Phukan, Golaghat AASU president Niranjan Sonowal, vice- president Santanu Dutta among others took part.
