AASU stages protest against smuggling of narcotic substances in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Telahi-Kamalaboria regional unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) staged sit-in at Panigaon Chariali on Thursday demanding a check on the smuggling of drugs, liquor, opium and other narcotic substances going on in the area.
In this connection, the organization expressed resentment alleging dereliction on the part of the departments concerned to control the illicit activities of the anti-social elements. Lakhimpur district AASU assistant general secretary Siddartha Pathak, cultural secretary Manjit Borpatra took part in the protest programme along with Telahi-Kamalaboria AASU president, general secretary and more than 50 members.
