GOLAGHAT: The activists of All Assam Tai Ahom Students' Union (AATASU) Golaghat district unit, with the help of the people of Golaghat, staged a protest on Friday near the Deputy Commissioner's office against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019. The activists protested in a democratic manner by color painting at the protest site against the BJP government. They strongly opposed the controversial Act and criticized the Central Government for 'forcefully' enacting the Act. In this context, the president of AATASU Golaghat district unit, Krishna Baruah said that massive protests against the CAA were continuing in the State but despite these protests, the Centre wanted to give Assam the burden of illegal immigrants. He asserted that AATASU would never accept the CAA.
