AATTSA Stages Sit-In Demanding Withdraw of Bogidhola TE Lock-Out

GOLAGHAT: After the incident that took place at Purabangla of Numaligarh region under Golaghat district where at least 5 police personnel and 12 tea garden workers sustained injuries after the conflict between police and protesters, on Friday the All Assam Tea Tribe Students’ Association (AATTSA) of Golaghat district staged three-hour sit-in near the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The AATTSA demanded the withdrawal of the lock-out of Bogidhola TE and demanded to provide PF, gratuity, bonus etc.

“The workers of Bogidhola Tea Estate are suffering and are deprived of from their fundamental rights due alleged negligence of district administration. It is seen that the administration and concerned authority always try to protect the garden owner without caring about the livelihood of the poor garden workers,” said Golaghat district AATTSA president Jagdish Baraik.

Golaghat AATTSA also said that exploitation, atrocities, deprivation is not a new phenomenon in the tea estate over poor labourers. “They have to fight everyday for their rights. But the government never do anything for the poor garden labourers. The government as well as Golaghat district administration totally failed to control the tea planters of the Bogidhola Tea Estate as a result Bogidhola TE incident took place again,” he said. Later they submitted a memorandum to the Labour Minister Pallab Lochan Das demanded to resolve the problems of Bogidhola tea garden workers by withdrawing the lock-out at Bogidhola TE, provide PF, gratuity, bonus etc, release the arrested three workers without any condition and punish the culprit who instigate the tea garden workers.
