AATTSA takes out motorcycle rally against Excise & Assam Police in Duliajan, Submits memorandum at Police Stations

Duliajan: Amidst the rampant protest against the failure of the Excise and Assam Police's alleged inability to check incidents like Hooch Tragedy in several districts of Assam, the All Assam Tea Tribe Students' Union (AATTSA) today staged out a massive motorcycle rally in several parts of the Tinsukia and Dibrugarh Districts.

As per latest reports, the death toll of the recent tragedy rose to 157 people so far.

The student body also appealed the Government of Assam for a strict enquiry in connection to the incident. They further demanded compensations to the family members of the deceased souls.

AATTSA also submitted memorandums at the Bordubi Police Station, Tingrai Police Outpost, Duliajan Police Station, Bhadoipachali Police Outpost, Naohalia Police Outpost today.

It may be mentioned that after hooch tragedy in Golaghat claims more than 91 lives since last Thursday, the public in garden and nearby areas came out and demolished the illegal alcohol manufacturing dens in various places of Halmira area under Golaghat District.

Also, as per the latest report, in Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) around 247 patients (Both Male and Female) have been admitted up to February 25.

Reports also state that at least 78 have died so far in JMCH which includes people from Jorhat and Golaghat. Out of which eight patients were stated critical in condition.

On the other, the Superintendent of Golaghat Civil Hospital informed the media that since last Thursday, total patients admitted in the Golaghat Civil Hospital were around 221.

Reports also state that around 64 patients have been referred from Halmira Tea Estate Hospital.

Further, around 31 died at the Golaghat Civil Hospital, 11 were brought dead (male-7 and female-5), 14 reportedly died outside (male-9, female-5), Total death toll in Golaghat Civil Hospital is 56 till February 25.
