AAU Extends Support To NEATEHUB To Promote Start-Up Initiatives

JORHAT: “At a stage when the Government of India is focusing on self-employment for the youths of the country, Northeast India being an agrarian and vastly unexplored economy with innumerable potential, entrepreneurship and start-up initiatives will go hand in hand in creating and promoting more and more home-grown ventures and business,” said Dr K.Karthiheyen , the chief executive officer of North East Agricultural Technology Entrepreneur Hub (NEATEHUB) while briefing mediapersons at Jorhat Press Club on Thursday.

The CEO spoke about the ongoing initiative of the organization, including the ongoing agripreneurship orientation programme where nearly 12 entrepreneurs are getting training and mentorship about their start-up ideas during their month-long programme against which the entrepreneurs will receive a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month. Post completion of the programme, the participants will be allowed grant-in-aid of Rs 5 lakh subject to their detailed project report (DPR) as approved by experts.

NEATEHUB, which is an incubator, provides all start-up elements such as physical infrastructure, co-working spaces, common services such as legal, finance, secretarial, technical, testing, pilot production, networking activities, events, partnerships, and linkages, access to mentors and advisers to enable start-ups to structure their business and make them investment ready.

Dr. Danish Tamuly, Assistant Professor of Assam Agriculture University, and Dr. GN Hazarika, adviser, NEATEHUB, were also present in the press meet.

“The organization is ably supported by Assam Agricultural University and is located in AAU Jorhat campus. The organization has raised funding from NITI Aayog, Government of India and Department of Agri Cooperation and Farmers Welfare (DAC&FW) which will also run other flagship schemes under RKVY-RAFTAAR (Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana-Remunerative Approaches for Agriculture and Allied Sectors Rejuvenation),” said adviser Dr GN Hazarika during the press meet.
