AAUA demands immediate filling-up of 55,000 Health department posts

LAKHIMPUR: The central committee of All Assam Unemployed Association (AAUA) has demanded the State government to fill up more than 55,000 posts in various departments to lighten the alarming burden of unemployment problem in the State. Moreover, the organization has demanded to extend the time period to apply for various posts of the Health department to 30 days.

In a press release sent to the media, AAUA president-in-charge, Dharmendra Deuri and general secretary Jiban Rajkhowa said that more than 16 lakhs youth of the State, working in other States of the country, had to lose their jobs due to the adverse effect of the COVID 19 situation and lockdown and they have once again become unemployed after coming back home. "At present, there are more than 55,000 posts lying vacant in various departments under the State government. At this crucial juncture, we have called upon the State government to initiate immediate steps to fill up these vacant posts keeping the words declared before", the press release stated.

In the same press release, the president-in-charge and general secretary of the organization further asserted that the publishing of online advertisements by the government to fill up the vacant posts of some departments under the government machinery had come under the notice of the organization. In this regard, the dignitaries of the organization called upon the government to publish the advertisements concerned through newspapers, not just online.

Moreover, the organization demanded the government to extend the period of 15 days to 30 days to apply for appointment to various posts under the Health department, the advertisement of which was recently published. According to the organization, a major part of the eligible unemployed youths living in rural areas of the State, where the online application facilities were still not easily available, would miss the chance of applying for these posts within the short period due to the communication problem caused by the ongoing lockdown. In this connection, the organization demanded to extend the period of time for application to all advertisements of appointment to more than 30 days.
