LAKHIMPUR: The All Assam Unemployed Association (AAUA) has expressed reaction over the appearance of cracks on the wall of the newly-constructed office building of Naoboicha Development Block. In a press release, AAUA general secretary Jiban Rajkhowa said, "Cracks have appeared on the walls of the newly-constructed office building of Naoboicha Development Block before it has been inaugurated. To construct the office building, each of the nine Gaon Panchayats (GPs), out of 10 under Naoboicha Development Block, extended Rs. 3,00,000, totaling to Rs. 27,00,000, which was allotted to the GPs concerned under 14th Finance Commission. Then the construction committee was formed with Naoboicha Mandal BJP president Ranjit Pawe as president and the Executive Officer of Lakhimpur Zila Parishad as member-secretary to implement the work. The president of the construction committee played the role of contractor to construct the office building."

Through the press release AAUA alleged misappropriation of funds while constructing the office building. "An untoward situation occurred in the past because of using low quality of sand while implementing the work. People of Naoboicha have the suspicion that the cracks on the wall of the office building have occurred only because of using low quality construction materials," the press release further added. Regarding the issue, AAUA has drawn the attention of the CM's Vigilance Cell and demanded a probe into the matter.
