According to his employer Bijoy Bora of Digboi, Apurba was in fact released by the ULFA militants on Tuesday afternoon in the dense forest belt along the border. The confused youth remained untraced for more than 12 hours. Following the course of the river, he somehow reached Nalla from where he was rescued by security agencies.
Though no recorded statement has come from the victim nor the owner regarding the ransom amount, yet sources said that a hefty amount had been demanded by the ULFA for his release.
