Kokrajhar: The BTC Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) along with local people on Tuesday staged a two-hour dharna at Bhotgaon in Kokrajhar demanding repair of the 20-km Kokrajhar to Phutkibari PWD road under East Kokrajhar Assembly constituency. Over 100 people, students and members of ABMSU blocked the road and staged the protest.

The public expressed their concern over the dilapidated condition of the road stating that despite repeated requests the authority concerned and local MLA and minister Pramila Rani Brahma had turned a deaf ear to the problems of common people. They threatened of indefinite road blockade if the road was not repaired and improved at the earliest. On the other hand, sources from BTC informed that the road to Rupsi Airport via Bhotgaon and Putkibari has already been taken up under Assam Mala projects and the existing road would have two lanes. The construction is likely to be started soon, the sources said.
