ABSU denies involvement of stone pelting at Seuli Mohilary’s vehicle

KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), Kokrajhar district committee on Friday strongly denied the allegation of Seuli Brahma Mohilary, wife of BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary who claimed that the student body could have hands in stone-pelting at her vehicle in thick jungle while they were returning from Ultapani near Indo-Bhutan border on Friday evening at around 6 pm.

In a press meet held at Maibong House, Kokrajhar, the general secretary of Kokrajhar district committee, ABSU Swmdwn Brahma said the student body was not at all involved in the incident as they have no intention to commit such dishonest sort of act against womenfolk. He said if any illegal act was committed by any individual for their vested interest then the ABSU highly condemns it. He urged the district administration to take stern action against the culprits involved in the incident and punish them as per law. He further said the ABSU was working for the unification and trust building amongst all sections of the people in the BTR area after signing of Bodo Peace Accord on January 27 last.

Meanwhile, the working president of the Bodoland Janajati Suraksha Mancha (BJSM) DD Narzary strongly condemned the incident and said the attack on family members was intolerable. He urged the district administration to identify the culprits immediately and take necessary action against them. The ex-president of the Kokrajhar Merchant Association Bikash (Laloo) Basumatary also strongly condemned the incident and demanded immediate inquiry. On the other hand, the women wing of BPF on Friday brought out a huge peace rally in Kokrajhar town against the attack on Seuli Brahma Mohilary, wife of BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary by miscreants. The rally was started from Bodofa Nwgwr near BTC Secretariat to DC Office via Jwhwlao Dwimalu Road demanding arrest of the culprits.

The rally with hundreds of supporters of women wing BPF was also taken part by president of BPF Women Wing Supriya Brahma, BTC EM Doneswar Goyary, ex EM Derhasat Basumatary and others.
