Additional water from Kopili hydroelectric project released

NAGAON: Due to the incessant rain for over a couple of days, the authority concerned of Kopili hydroelectric project released additional water from the dam on Friday here for which the Kopili river is flowing above the danger level.

It is feared that within the next 24 hours these additional water will create panic among the people living at the bank of Kopili river especially at Diyungba area as well as the greater areas of Kampur, Kochuwa, Raha, Nagaon revenue circles in the district.

Meanwhile the authority concerned of Kampur local administration has already alerted the people of the entire areas through loud speakers and also issued notices to the village heads of the areas to make people alert for possible flood in the areas.

The authority of PWD department has already closed the Kampur - Yamunamukh PWD road near at Sariahtoli due to the sharp flow of Kopili river, has caused massive erosion at many places on the PWD road. The overflowing water of Kopili river has already swept away the machineries of Patiapam irrigation plant.
