ADGP reviews security arrangements ahead of Amit Shah's visit to Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) LR Bishnoi on Tuesday visited Kokrajhar to review the law and order and security arrangements during Union Home Minister Amit Shah's scheduled programme at Kokrajhar on January 24. Shah will attend the grand public gathering at Green Field, Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar to celebrate the first BTR Accord Day to be celebrated for four days from January 24.

Talking to reporters, ADGP Bishnoi said that he had reviewed the security arrangements and law-and-order situation in Kokrajhar for peaceful celebration of BTR Accord Day. He said that he had inspected the Green Field, the venue where Union Home Minister Amit Shah would address the grand public meeting on January 24. He said that the celebration would be held in an area of 700 bighas of field where 3.5 lakh people can be accommodated.

The ADGP said that for smooth running of programme, they had created 21 sectors and each sector would be monitored by police officers under IGP, BTC. He also said that over 2,000 security personnel would maintain the people's movement in the venue and the police administration would ensure that there would be no protest programmes. He further said that COVID-19 protocol would be maintained in the large public gathering. ADGP Bishnoi was also accompanied by IGP, BTC Anurag Agarwal and Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roushan in the visit to the venue of the grand public meeting.

Meanwhile, all the arrangements for holding a mega public gathering at Green Field, Kokrajhar are almost complete. The beautification drive and resurfacing of roads with black top and silver lining are on.
