Adolescence awareness camp organized by Maitree Ashram concludes

LAKHIMPUR: The two-day long Adolescence Awareness Camp organized by Maitree Ashram, which was founded by Sant Vinoba Bhave, the chief disciple of Mahatma Gandhi at Ujjalpur of Lakhimpur district, concluded with success.

The camp was organized with the patronization of Social Welfare Department under the Government of Assam and under the supervision of Assam branch of Kasturba Gandhi National Trust. A total of 50 students studying in the Higher Secondary course participated in the camp which was inaugurated by Longnit Terang, the Superintendent of Police, Lakhimpur, by lighting of ceremonial lamps. He called upon the students to proceed in their life by following the noble ideology of truth and non-violence as shown by Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave. Managing trustee of Maitree Ashram, Champa Pator explained the aims and objectives of the camp.

On the other hand, Dr. Naba Krishna Rajkhowa took part in the camp as a resource person on a topic –'What qualities made Gandhiji as Mahatma Gandhi'. Dr Upen Dutta took part as resource person on 'Gandhiji's views on health and cleanliness'.

On the second day of the camp, Champa Pator explained the significance of the prayer Om Tat Shri Narayana Tu, composed by Vinoba Bhave mentioning the name of God, as worshipped in all religions of the world. Subject teacher of ADK HS School, Sanjib Borah delivered speech on 'Various constructive and reformative programmes of Mahatma Gandhi' while Dr. Naba Krishna Rajkhowa delivered lecture on 'Beauty of Adolescent Life and Essential Education to live Prestigious Life'. Publicity Cell secretary of the central committee of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Prasanna Badan Borah, social activist Suresh Gogoi, prominent medical specialists Dr. Rup Kumar Phukan and Dr. Manashi Phukan also took part in the camp. The attendee students of the camp performed cultural items on the concluding day. The camp concluded with the 'Subha Mangal' prayer, recited by the inmates of the Ashram.
