Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit secured Rs. 4.91 lakh crore in investments, marking a historic milestone for the state across key sectors like tourism, healthcare, and technology.

GUWAHATI: The last three days have been not only historic for our state but have also opened the door to immense possibilities for a bright future. Through the three-day event, we were able to showcase Assam’s unique culture on a global scale and also witness an unprecedented level of success in strengthening Assam’s economic foundation and establishing connectivity. This statement was made by Dilip Saikia, State President of BJP Assam.

In particular, with the aim of attracting more investors to Assam, the state government successfully organized the “Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Connectivity Summit” on 25th and 26th February 2025, at the Assam Veterinary College grounds in Khanapara, Guwahati.

This event, which gained support not only from within the country but also from abroad, is a matter of pride for all the people of Assam. Under the visionary leadership of our hardworking Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam was able to secure investments worth Rs. 4.91 lakh crore during the two-day summit, marking it as the largest investment summit in Assam’s history. Agreements signed by successful entrepreneurs and institutions from both India and abroad in sectors such as tourism, healthcare, education, technology, artificial intelligence, transportation, and art will serve as significant milestones in Assam’s development journey.

Key sectors that attracted particular attention for investments during the summit include:

  • Petrochemicals – Development of refineries, food processing, and research sectors.

  • Renewable Energy – Expansion of solar, hydroelectric, and bioenergy projects.

  • Tourism and Hospitality – Establishing Assam as a major tourism and cultural hub.

  • Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals – Development of healthcare connectivity and pharmaceutical industries.

  • Logistics and Communication – Development of commercial routes, multi-modal transportation systems, and border trade.

  • Information Technology and Startups – Establishing Assam as a center for digital innovation.

Policy Reforms and Business Facilitation:

The Assam government has introduced several policy-level incentives to promote business and industrial development, including:

  • Simplifying regulatory processes and speeding up project approvals.

  • Tax reliefs and sector-specific economic incentives.

  • Encouraging new ventures through Assam’s Startup Policy.

  • Strengthening supply chains by establishing integrated logistics parks.

We are deeply grateful to our respected Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, who inaugurated the summit and stated that “A for Assam” will one day be known to the world. His remarks have propelled us toward a bright future. We also express our gratitude to Tata, Adani, Reliance, JSW, SR, Vedanta, Global Health Limited, and other representatives from India and abroad who have committed investments in various sectors of Assam.

In addition to thanking the participants, we also acknowledge the support of Central Ministers such as Shri Subrahmanyam Jaishankar (Minister of External Affairs), Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw (Minister of Information & Broadcasting), Shri Piyush Goyal (Minister of Commerce & Industry), Shri Nitin Gadkari (Minister of Road Transport & Highways), Shri Hardeep Singh Puri (Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas), Shri Sarbananda Sonowal (Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways), and Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia (Minister of Civil Aviation). Their encouragement and support have been invaluable.

The success of the summit is due to the participation of representatives from 75 countries, heads of missions from 67 countries, representatives from 9 allied nations, and the Assam government ministers, legislators, and civil servants who made this event a success. BJP State President Dilip Saikia expressed his gratitude for their contributions, as mentioned in a press statement sent by BJP state spokesperson Suranjan Dutta.
