Adya shraddha of Jadav Thakur held at Ganakpatty in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR: Rich tributes were paid to noted social worker and leading citizen of Sivasagar Jadav Thakur who died on December 3 at his residence at Ganakpatty in Sivasagar town, on the occasion of his adya shradha on December 13.

In a meeting held at his residence on December 15, a commemorative book ‘Romanthan’ published under the aegis of family members of Late Thakur was released. The book with as many as twenty articles and edited by Monoj Kumar Bhagawati was released by Xatradhikar of Ujanial Xatra Lakhikanta Mahanta.

Releasing the book Mahanta opined that late Jadav Thakur was a man of virtue with kind and simple mind. He was a man of good words. The programme hosted by noted social worker Saurav Chaliha, was also addressed by Kalpana Kotoki and others.

Late Thakur was a retired teacher of Thanuram Gogoi Memorial HS School, Sivasagar and was also involved with various social and cultural organizations. He was vice-president (in-charge) and adviser of Sibsagar Natya Samaj and was also involved with Seuj Konwar Parag Chaliha Smriti Rakhya Samiti as an adviser.
