Affordable healthcare and  disease-free India focus of government: Mangaldai MP Ramen Deka

TANGLA, Sept 18: "Health has taken centre stage in various welfare schemes launched by the Modi government across various sectors. Affordable healthcare and a disease-free India has been one of the focus areas of the present government. Even the schemes like Swachh Bharat and Ujjawala are aimed at eliminating diseases since only a clean India can lead to a disease-free and healthy nation." This was observed by Mangaldai Lok Sabha MP Ramen Deka here at Tangla H.S playground on Monday.

Attending a day-long medical health camp as chief guest, the parliamentarian stated that health and hygiene were inter-related. "The free health camps are especially beneficial for the rural populace who do not have easy access to healthcare," he added. The camp organized by District Health Society, National Health Mission, Udalguri, was chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri Dilip Kumar Das. Earlier, Joint Director of Health,Udalguri, Dr. Tayebur Rahman elaborated the purpose of the meet. A team of specialist doctors and volunteers conducted free check-ups of hundreds of people. They were also provided with free medicines by a team of medical practitioners.

In addition to this, free blood pressure check-up, blood sugar check-up and BMI check-up was carried to create awareness about diabetes and hypertension. The inaugural ceremony was also attended by former MCLA, BTC, Kartik Boro; Bhergaon SDO (C), Dithakananda Hazarika and Bhergaon SDPO Barun Purkayastha.
